Dieting, sad to say, can be costly. There are diets which require you to buy specific foods that are not exactly within your budget. While there are some foods which do not cost as much, maintaining can still be expensive. Foods aside, dieting involves weight loss products and supplements too. As you are well aware of, they guarantee great results for a high price.
Before you resign yourself to the fact that you have to spend good money in order to lose weight, you may to give dieting on a budget a try.
First, grab a pen and paper. Jot down your preferred foods. Make sure that what you are including in the list can be bought for a reasonable price. The list should have at least twenty five items. Also, keep in mind the availability of the food. The products in the list should be offered in local grocery stores.
The next thing you need is a nutrition guide. Books can be expensive so you can just go online to get information about the products you have listed down. Learn the nutritional facts about the foods in your list. In other words, know how many calories or fats each food has.
After you obtain each food’s nutritional information, calculate how much calorie you should take every day. There are calorie calculators online if you want to save yourself from dealing with numbers. On the other hand, if you are good with math, you are welcome to do it yourself. You can determine your daily calorie intake by multiplying your weight by ten then by thirteen. The results will be your calorie range.
Now that you know your acceptable daily calorie intake, make a diet plan out of the foods you have listed down earlier.
Start with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These do not contain many calories and they can be a good, and tasteful, way to begin a healthy diet. Frozen fruits and vegetables are considerably cheaper than fresh ones. For whole grain products, try oatmeal, brown rice, and whole wheat bread. These foods are called the “healthy carbs”. Indulge in these and save money while enjoying the health benefits. White bread and other white sugar-based products mean more calories and higher cost.
Stay away from sugar-rich foods. Not only are they bad for your teeth, but they are also not helpful in your weight loss plan. Sugar triggers hunger. Logically, if you are hungry you eat more than usual. You see where this is leading? You eat more, you add to your expenses. It is best if you drop your sugar habit. If it is too hard, you could at least cut back.
Say no to McDonalds or any fast food restaurant for that matter. Yes, fast foods taste great and if you are in a hurry, it is convenient to have them for lunch. However, eating fast foods on a daily basis can lead to obesity, among other things. If you really want to lose weight say goodbye to Big Mac. Buy fruits and vegetables instead. They are healthier and cheaper.
