The Liver Cleansing Diet is a detox regime created by Dr. Sandra Cabot to effectively cleanse the liver.
The liver is just one of many essential organs that naturally detox the body. In fact, the liver acts as a filter for removing or breaking down toxins like ammonia, drugs, alcohol, and other chemicals to which we’re exposed in the modern world, but when overloaded with toxins it is no longer able to effectively fulfill its job as in house cleaner. Thus people begin to experience problems with digestion, allergies, excessive weight gain, chronic fatigue and much more.
This detox diet follows several basic ideas: stick to raw organic fruits and vegetables, no refined sugars or processed foods, and absolutely no caffeine. These regulations are thought to provide all essential nutrients and calories while not overwhelming the liver and thus allowing it to rid itself of accumulated toxins.
This diet must be strictly adhered to in order to be a success. A meal plan for the full month on this diet can be found in Dr. Cabot’s book The Liver Cleansing Diet.

Water and juice fasts are popular methods of detoxing. These fasts, as the name suggests, eliminate all solid foods from your diet for a limited time and replace them with fluids. The elimination of food from your system is said to give your body time to focus on ridding the body of toxins while not being continually overloaded with food to process. A high liquid intake furthers this process by helping to flush out the liver, the kidneys and the bowel. More liquid for Optimal Body Function We have all been warned about the dangers of dehydration, being told to consume at least 2 liters of water a day. But how does this help the detoxing process? Well, when the body doesn’t have enough water it can’t properly hydrate the cells. Thus the cells panic and draw water from the bloodstream. This keeps the blood from flowing at its ideal rate and ....
For many of us losing weight seems practically impossible. We are surviving on what we feel is next to nothing; following a regimented diet of supposedly healthy foods that are purported to help us shed that unwanted weight. And meanwhile we have a friend that scarfs down donuts and hamburgers daily and never seems to gain a pound. But why is this? Often we brush this off as a fast metabolism or a friend that eats a lot in front of us, but perhaps nothing else the rest of the day. Really, what other conclusion is there for their tiny figure and not so savory eating habits? Well as it turns out there could be something more to their enviously slim physique, and this is their blood type: imagine! Many recent medical and nutritional studies place blood type as an important factor in food tolerance and nutrient absorption in the digestion tract. ....
In 2004 when renowned talk show host Oprah Winfrey, alongside Dr. Nigel Perricone, reported the ability to lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks, just by switching from coffee to green tea, the whole world took notice. The result: green tea mania. But just what is so great about green tea? Well to be honest: everything. Health Benefits of Green Tea Traditionally green tea was used by the Chinese to treat headaches, body aches, and poor digestion. But with modern science we now know that its health benefits are much more widespread than originally thought. In fact, green tea is a great weight loss tool, just as the diet suggests. The hot drink speeds up the body’s metabolism making it easier to shed unwanted pounds. And it has many powerful anti-oxidants that actually help to burn fat as well. EGCG, a powerful antioxidant found in large quantities in green tea as well as other plant foods, ....
The healing power of lemons For many years the healing powers and detoxing affects of lemons have been known and preached in the natural health world. In fact the age old saying “When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade,” has more of a life lesson than you might have thought. When lemons are mixed with hot water this juice becomes a natural medicine with ability to combat multiple health issues. To start with, lemon juice helps the digestive process, reduces nausea, heartburn, and constipation. It is also a powerful antibacterial preventing infection in the digestion, intestine and urinary tracts; and it has been proved by experiments that the bacteria of malaria, cholera, diphtheria, typhoid and other deadly diseases are destroyed in lemon-juice. Furthermore, lemon juice is known to stimulate bile production in the liver, making the day’s digestion much more efficient. And its highly acidic content even helps to dissolve gallstones (a by-product of ....
